“Top Priority”

That’s what the surgical chief resident called me: “the surgery department’s top priority right now” — words you never really want to hear. The CT results did not look good, showing signs of some sort of intestinal leakage (air and/or solid). He wants to do surgery right away to take a look and either fix it, or give me another diverting loop ileostomy to allow it to heal. According to him, “this is not something we wait to figure out; we need to figure it out now.” My surgeon is on her way to the hospital and will be meeting me tonight or tomorrow to discuss her thoughts and my options. More when I know it.

I’m glad you got to the hospital when you did. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your wife. Thanks for keeping us updated.
